Hallow Dear,
If you have recently finished a course of antibiotics and now are suffering from itching in the vagina; it is most likely that you have caught yeast infection.
In the vagina, normally bacteria named Lacobacilli are present. They protect you from the yeast infection and maintain an acidic healthy milieu internii. Many a times, after a course of antibiotics, these bacteria are destroyed and the vaginal protection goes away leading to yeast infection.
In yeast infection, initially there is itching and subsequently white curdy discharge starts. Antifungal vaginal pessaries treat this condition effectively. However, you should understand that this infection can be transmitted sexually also. Hence to avoid reinfection, both of you should take the treatment simultaneously (even if he is not having any symptoms). Moreover, both of you should follow the instructions given below:
1. Observe sexual abstinence till both of you are declared completely cured. This is completely curable condition.
2. Shave private parts clean. Discharge gets painted in the hair to reinfect.
3. Clip the nails short to avoid discharge painting up in the nails causing reinfection.
4. Boil the underwear daily.
5. Using panty liners for you is a good option.
6. In addition of antifungal pessaries, use lactobacilli pessaries or Lactysid lotion which will help regaining of the
vaginal flora to normalcy.
I hope this helps you.
