What Causes Itching And Soreness Despite Using A Condom?

I recently had a sexual encounter with a married man last Saturday (16th) that has not had any other partner in addition to use wife in over 15 years. We used a condom but the next day he experienced itching and sores. I have not prior to or currently experiencing the same. I have absolutely no itching, sores, discharge, or discomforts. Is it possible that I can have a STD without any symptoms or signs that would transfer to him? He visited his doctor Tuesday was given a shot and put on an antibiotic as a precautionary, also tested awaiting results that will take a week. I would not want to harm him if I had knowledge of a STD I would not have sex. He freaking out, understandably so. Can there be any other explanation other than STD. I have absolutely no issues with the appearance of my genital or unusual uncomfortable sensations.
