What Causes Itching And Peeling Of Skin On Palms?

irritated and getting freaked out Dear doctor, the palms of my hands have been.extremely itchy and skin grew tight and leathery and peeled. The itch is starting to move down my wrist and theres all these little bumbs below the skin and on top of my hands. My toes on my left foot started itching really bad and once again the skin became very leathery..some places blistered causing a few sores which scabbed over but now the bottom of my foot is doing the same as my palms and the right foot toes are strange to become very itchy. I m freaking out. nothing like his has ever happened to me and it s embarrassing. I m a bartender so at first i thought maybe Athletes foot from my sneakers and someone been putting too much bleach in the towel water but I ve tried lotions and A&D ointment and hasn t helped anything. Please help!!! sooooooo irritated and freaked out! Jennifer

Hello,

You are experiencing itching and peeling of the skin of your palms. It is spreading. The commonest cause of itchy palms are allergy, scabies, dryness, eczema, psoriasis, indicative of diabetes. You are suggested to apply Ascabiol lotion on your palms, hands and area affected, leave it for 40-45 minutes there and then wash it off. The itching will reduce if it is scabies. Repeat the application after 12-15 days. It will clear away.

Take care of your hygiene. Do not share your toiletries with anyone and wash your clothes and bedding in hot water frequently. Cold compression and ice packs will reduce the discomfort. You should wear gloves while working with chemicals & harsh detergents. Applying a moisturizer immediately after drying the hands. Avoid gel-based hand sanitizers as these often contain high concentrations of drying alcohol.

Get clinically examined by a dermatologist and also get blood glucose level checked. You will be treated accordingly. You are suggested to take non-sedating antihistamines to get rid of the allergic symptoms. Complications of diabetes affecting the liver and kidney may cause itchy skin. Hydrocortisone ointment and corticosteroids help to reduce the symptoms. Get examined by a local doctor. Get treated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
