What Causes Irritation And Redness In The Eyes?

i got red eye problem, nd doctor gave me 2 eye drops (toba f and moxicip) and also one eye ointment (gatifloxacin eye ointment) Am using these medicine for 5 days still no change in the codition of my eyes Some times i got irritation when am using eye drops.... What i will do....?

Hi,

If the above medications have not improved your eye condition it is time to review the diagnosis. If the antibiotics that were prescribed above have not cleared that means the antibiotics may not be the right choice for you. You have a different problem altogether. If your doctor is not specialized in Ophthalmology I suggest you to change to one.

I also sugggest to review dry eye problem and allergic conjunctivitis where there is no space for antibiotics to treat them.

Red eye is most commonly by allergy or viral. The drugs are antibiotics, either of them do not treat the cause only prevent secondary bacterial infection.

Most drugs are irritant to eye especially if there is inflammation due to other cause. consult a doctor again first there is no improvement and second you are not tolerating drugs which are not working.

Viral - takes own course to resolve 4-7days.
Allergy - Needs different specific management.
