What Causes Intermittent Fever And Diarrhea?

My soon to be 4yo daughter has had 4 on again off again fevers with no other symptoms besides a headache for the past 6 weeks. Today started her 4th fever and she had an upset tummy with a little diarrhea. She has had extensive blood work done with no real results. On Monday they did a cdc and she had elevated white blood cells and low red blood cell but today they did another one and she had low white blood cell count with only a little low red blood cell count. She is in good spirits still active unless the fever gets above 102.5, her appetite has decreased this week and her coloring in now off a little too. I feel it s just taking to long to diagnose and I just want some answered. Help!

Hi,

The commonest cause can be Enteric Fever that is called as Typhoid.
* Stool tests for 3 consecutive days may help further.
* Ultrasound of abdomen to see for appendicitis, lymph nodes or so.
* Proper antibiotic and Metronidazole along with probiotics.
* Symptomatic treatment of fever and aches.
All these should help for proper management. It is ideal to get such babies admitted for a few days for intravenous fluids, electrolytes, antibiotics should help.
