What Causes Intermittent Dizziness And Nervousness While Taking Iron Supplements?

For the past couple weeks I ve been plagued with bouts of lightheaded ness, nervousness. It last anywhere from a few minutes to maybe 5 or 10. Previously I was put on iron supplements but have since stopped. I have a rather large fibroid that does not cause pain but I m wondering if it could be the culprit. I m on a bp medication (lisoprin sp?). My ac1c was 6.1 but it was indicated that iron deficiency could cause it to be increased. Tomatoes seem to help as well as taking Allegra D. I m also into menopause so uncertain if that could be the cause too.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is not due to iron pills but may be due to anemia. Go for a complete blood count to check your hemoglobin status. If you are anemic blood transfusions may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
