What Causes Intermenstrual Vaginal Bleeding?

I recently just completed my cycle that lasts normally 7 days. I m still spotting and after I urinate fluid comes out (that doesn t smell very good). I have an appointment with my GYN in about 15 days but don t know if I need immediate medical attention. Is this a bacterial infection or something else?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. Vaginal discharge that is having a foul odor is not normal. It is a sign of possible bacterial infection.

You will have to take antibiotics for the treatment of the infection. Start with Levofloxacin 250 mg (Levoflox) twice a day for 5 days.

If it does not resolve, then you may have to go for vaginal swab analysis.

If symptoms do not worsen and you wish to wait, you can wait for 15 days for check up before starting any medicines. The problem is not serious and it can wait if it does not worsen.

I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
