Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Insomnia While Suffering From Sinusitis?
I often have trouble sleeping. It got worse starting with cool weather this fall. I took cephalexin for skin infection and it helped me sleep a lot, soon after stopping the antibiotic, insomnia came back. Why would the antibiotic help sleep? I do have chronic sinusitis, and some diabetes.
Hi As you stated in your query that whenever you took cephalaxin for infection , there you feel good sleep . When there is sinusitis there develop insomnia . In my opinion your sinusitis may be associated with some sort of infection , so whenever you take antibiotics it help to control infection ( which may be associated with allergy , sinusitis ). So cephalexin never induce sleep but eradication of infection provided you much needed relief i.e. sleep. Hope this will help you. Further, if any question I will reply.
