What Causes Increased Heart Beats At Night?

I'm starting to take 10 mg Amlodipine Besylate at night before bedtime, instead of in the morning. It seems like what keeps me from sleeping is my heart beating hard, not fast. I don't know if it's my imagination, but my heart seems quieter and I sleep better when taking the Amlodipine Besylate at night. Is there any credibility to my theory?

Hello
Amlodipine is having longer t1/2 ( half life ) so advise once in day .
But it is not necessary that , it should be taken early in the morning .
Since you are taking in the night ,so this is alright .
This is potent coronary and peripheral vasodilators so it don't causes bradycardia( don't decrease heart rate ) , that is the reason that you feel better and have sound sleep.
Take this tablet , as you wish , your theory is right.
Good luck.

General & Family Physician Dr. Arun A's  Response
At night your body goes into a state where it requires less blood in circulation so your blood pressure dips. Taking an amlodipine at night would lower the already lowered blood pressure. During the day it is required as your B.P is higher. If you have difficulty sleeping then you should talk to your doctor about dividing your dosage so that your heart rate and b.p are better controlled.
Thank you for your query
