What Causes Increase In Cancer Cells After Undergoing Chemotherapy For Colon Cancer?
my 17 year old son was just recently diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer to the liver and lymph nodes surrounding the liver and portal vein. His response to chemo is good. He is getting Avastin with 5foru? (sorry but I know you know what I mean...). His cancer cells were 5000 when diagnosed...8000 at the worst point, and now after 3 rounds of chemo...down to 4000. I guess I am trying to decide in my mind if he is terminal.
Your son is suffering from stage 4 colon cancer. Treatment iat this stage consist of palliative chemotherapy along with targeted therapy. Since his cannce rcells have come down to 4000 from 5000 that means there has been response to therapy and after doing CT scan of whole abdomen if the disease burden has reduced radiologically he can continue another 3 rounds of chemotherapy.
