What Causes Hugh Fever With Racing Heart Beat And Shaking Of The Body?
My 6 year old spiked a fever to 105 today suddenly around noon with severe headache (screaming and crying in pain), sensitivity to light and eye pain. She has been getting over a cold since 1/19/14. She had a negative rapid strep on 1/20 and again today. She was seen by her pediatrician on both days. She has been reporting a rapid heart rate making her feel like she is shaking. Her temp is all over the place now but still elevated. She was given Tylenol this afternoon and Motrin this evening before bed. Her heart rate while sleeping is 108. I feel like something isn't right. The pediatrician says it is just viral. What about meningitis? Why is she feeling her heart race and why does she feel like she is shaking from it?
HI Thank for asking to HCM I really appreciate your concern, this seems viral fever, when body temperature increases the heartrate increases too this is physiological phenomenon, and nothing to worry about the heart rate, but more concern is fever, if it does not subside within four to five days then blood work has to be done, right now this is not the symptoms of meningitis, I hope you can understand this, take a good care of child and have nice day.
Rapid rise in temperature can give rise to tremors and even seizures. So although it is viral but should be taken a little seriously. First apply tap water sponging to all her body as her temperature should not be alloy to rise above 100. He should be given antibiotics, and paracetamol.
