What Causes Hot Flushes Along With Severe Mood Swings And Night Sweats?

I recently went to the Dr. Because I was having strange symptoms that sent me to the Dr office. And she referred my to an obgyn that also specialized in endocronoligy, as she thought I might has premature menopause. I m 33 but had my tubes tied at 27. My symptoms include: I ve lost 25 lbs in the last 2.5 months with no diet or excersize, heat flashes during the day lasting up to an hour and a half, night flashes/sweating profusely( every night), had such severe moods swings, I actually tried to quit a job I love a few months ago (the zoloft cured that part, and thank god they didn t let me go), trouble sleeping at night, grew a mustache and hair on my toes in the last 8 months to a year. I had lots of blood work done. The Dr asked if I d ever been tested for diabetes, no I havent. Just last week he called and asked if I took a prenatal supplament and what day of my cycle I m on. I only take the zoloft and I wasn t sure of my day of cycle but I started my period on April 29th and ended on may 2nd. Blood work was done on the 18th of may. Today the office called and said they want a CT of my adrenal glands asap, prefforably before my follow up on Monday June 8th. Originally he thought I could be type 1 diabetic. I m a little frantic and just want some peace of mind in the mean time, if any could be had.

Hi,

Initially I thought you may be going through the change prematurely, especially with your womb being tied at 27 years old (I don't know why you had your womb tied at that age). If it was purely for fertility reasons then these are my suspected diagnosis with your family physician requesting an urgent CT scan.

One of the things that comes to mind with symptoms of hot flush, weight loss and irregular periods are thyroid related problems, however, you are having hair growth as well which makes me suspect polycystic ovaries syndrome, however, this doesn't explain the weight loss. These are medical conditions that can be managed effectively. At the moment, I would advise to await the scan result as that would give us a better idea of what we are dealing with.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
