What Causes Horrible Headache After Swimming?

I am a competitive swimmer, and I have had this horrible headache since yesterday. It also makes my eyes achey. And yesterday in the store I had to sit down in an aisle because it hurt so bad! I feel a little bit better today, but I am still dizzy and have a headache. I have an important swim practice tonight, so are there any ways to get better (or just feel better, but I have already taken Tylenol and it didn't do anything) by 7:30 tonight?

Thanks!

Hi,

I read your question carefully and understand your concern. In case the headache started all of sudden, you should not hesitate and see a doctor ASAP because you need a CAT scan and a lumbar puncture to rule out that a bleeding occured.

You can take Tylenol (up to 3000 mg a day) in the meanwhile. If that does not help add Ibuprofen (max 2400 mg) (please do not take aspirin).

Last but not least, please skip the training for tonight.

Hope you will find this answer helpful.

Kind regards,
Dr. Wu
