What Causes Horizontal Lines On Both Breasts?

I have had 4 children and am 38 years old. I have some horizantal lines on the inside of both breasts. They are more noticeable if I pull my nipple out, then you can see a whole bunch of lines. You can feel them a little bit to - they are slightly indented. Would these be stretch marks? Is there something specific I should watch for that would indicate a problem??

I can understand your concern regarding your breasts.
These lines, white in colour usually appear during the pregnancy and remain throughout the life. They are known as striae gravida or striae albicans. They appear due to excessive stretching of the skin of the breasts. During pregnancy, the size of the breasts increases and hence the skin gets stretched and cracks in the deeper layers leaving the lines on the breasts. During pregnancy, they are reddish in colour and afterwards, they appear white.
Also as the menopause appears, the breasts start shrinking in size and sagging down when these lines become more prominent. Even by loosing weight the breasts sag down and these lines become more prominent.
There is nothing to worry about these lines. Some commercial preparations are available to make such marks invisible, however I have got a doubt.
