What Causes High Gamma Gt Readings?Suggest Remedy

I have had rotine blood tests due to suffering from hypertension, my doctor wants me to have more blood tests due to my gamma gt reading, I am not a big drinker or a regular drinker, I only have one lady friend for the past 5 years so Im wondering what would be the reason for (I think) high gamma gt readings and what treatment would be required

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Increased GGT indicates liver injury. It may be due to many reasons like hepatitis, alcohol intake, altered lipid profile, medicines etc.
It is important to know the other parameters of LFT like SGPT,SGOT,Bilirubin level.
You need few more investigations like random blood sugar(RBS),renal function test(RFT),lipid profile, viral markers, urine RE/ME.Ultrasound of abdomen should also be done.

You should take tablet Ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg twice daily for three months more.It will help in regeneration of liver cells.
You should avoid red meat and high fat milk products.
You should avoid fried and junk food and completely avoid alcohol.

Get well soon.
Hope I have answered your question.

Take Care
