What Causes Heavy Bleeding , Nausea And Heartburn After Taking Levonelle Tablet?

I took Levonelle on Sunday. 36 hours after sexual intercourse. I was on around day 9 in my cycle on Sunday. It has been 6 days since and I am bleeding quite heavily and have very bad heartburn and feel nauseous. I just wondered if this was normal- or if it s likely I am pregnant.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Emergency contraception can cause changes in bleeding. It can cause a decrease in menstrual bleeding or an increase or a change in the cycle.

Some hormonal medication can also be associated with reflux as well which would be the reason for the nausea and heartburn.

Symptoms related to pregnancy would not normally start so early in a pregnancy so this is unlikely the case but you can do a pregnancy test to check.
It would be best to do this 11 to 14 days after possible conception when the HCG hormone can be detected.

I hope this helps
