What Causes Heavy Bleeding Even After Mirena Coil Insertion?

Hi, I am 51 years old and had a mirena coil fitted 2 1/2 years ago for heavy periods. During that time I have had no bleeding at all. During the last month I have been having heavy bleeding, lasting for a day then tailing off over a wek, then restarting again. Almost like a 28 day cycle condensed into 7-10 days.

Hi, I think you should get a ultrasound done. If your endometrium is thick, you may require endometrial biopsy. Talk to your doctor regarding this. Mirena can also cause this sometimes. Hope I have answered your question.
