Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having some heart palpitations, which I traced to when I have a few cups of coffee over a few days. However I also feel lightheaded, dizzy and a bit weak, after getting off of elevators, and when I am very hungry. I am also a bit jittery when hungry? What could this mean?
Thank you for your question! I understand your concern, and I would like to assure you that there is nothing to worry about palpitations during stressful physical and psychological situations in life. The only thing that you should do is a routine medical check up to your GP for a normal physical examination, an resting ECG and some blood tests (complete blood count, thyroid hormone levels, blood glucose, liver and kidney function tests, etc.). You should avoid any triggering substances and drinks (like coffee, alcohol, cigarettes smoking, etc); and follow a healthy diet (Mediterranean one) and daily regimen. Hope to have been helpful. Greetings from Dr. Iliri.
