My 12yo son has been getting bloody nose in the middle of the night (this is the 3rd night) - it runs out like a faucet and the last couple of days he has been getting very painful headaches.. I just gave him a 10mg zyrtec but I m alarmed at the amount of blood that gushes out his nose..

The most common cause of epistaxis (nose bleed) is local pathology in nose, which can be confirmed by an ENT examination. In view of headache, a brain scan is also advisable.
