What Causes Headache With Sore Lips?

I have pounding headache, sore lips that sting and little cuts either side of my mouth! My headache just came on and got very bad within a minute or two and my lips have been like this for about a week or just under, I have been using Vaseline but now am trying cold sore cream.

Hello!

Thank you for your question on HCM!

Regarding your concern, your symptoms seem to be related to a viral infection. A herpes infection could also cause sore lips.

Do you have fever?

I recommend taking painkillers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

If you don't have any relief by painkillers, I would recommend consulting with your doctor for a careful physical exam and some blood lab tests (complete blood count, inflammation tests).

Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Best wishes,
Dr. Aida
