What Causes Headache, Stiff Neck And Dizziness After Flushing Ear With Peroxide?
I had tympanoplasty on my right ear many years ago and I get always infection. I went to ER last week for clogged ear. Doctor put peroxide on my ear for 20 minutes and flush it with water. While fushing it I felt dizzy and she gave meclizine. Now I have haviness on head, headcahe, stiffneck and a little dizzines?
Noted your history of dizziness, headache and neck stiffness after instilling hydrogen peroxide in operated ear. The commonest cause I can think about the symptoms with the history you have provided are as follows: Perforated tympanic membrane in spite of tympanoplasty allowing the fluid to enter into the middle ear instigating the symptoms. Perforation due to the trauma of flushing the ear with peroxide or water. Neck, stiffness and headache are secondary to this. There can be a viral infection or so causing the fullness or clogged war that you went to ER for.
Hence I would advise you the following: Continue with Meclizine. Consult an ENT Surgeon for clinical evaluation, ENT Endoscopy to know the cause clinically. This will allow the further additional management as per the cause found.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
