What Causes Headache After Having Duphaston During Pregnancy?
i am 6 weeks pregnant, only a sac is shown on the transvaginal ulatrasound due to early pregnancy and my OBgyne prescribed duphaston 3 times a day for 1 week.. i just want to know the main reason why? i can feel headache as i started taking it based on my observation.. thank you.. godbless..
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. The fetus should be visible in the transvaginal ultrasound by6 weeks of pregnancy. But sometimes the ovulation is delayed and hence the conception is also delayed. In that case, the ultrasound shows the fetus a bit delayed. Duphastone is progesterone which supports the pregnancy by making uterine environment more favourable for foetus. It has side effect of causing hypotension and hence headache and dizziness. If you are having severe symptoms due to duphastone, you can consult your doctor and switch over to injectable progesterone, which do not have such side effect. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Dr Deepti Verma
