What Causes Head Ache And Running Nose?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...

I've been sick on and off since the weekend following Thanksgiving. Symptons include sinus pressure, head ache, running nose, ear ache, shortness of breath, and fatigue. I've also had a temperature 3 times that lasted for less than 24 hours. I was given z-pak antibiotic last Wednesday (pills for 5 days but takes full 10 days to work fully). Yesterday, sick symptons returned and I'm feeling even worse today. Since this started, I would start to feel better for 2-3 days, but never lost all systems (runny nose typically was the only sympton when I was at my best).

This seems quite odd to me that I can not get over this and now the z-pak doesn't seem to be helping either. Thoughts? Concerns? Suggestions?

Thanks for your assistance,

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

As per your query you have symptoms of sinus pressure, head ache, running nose, ear ache, shortness of breath, and fatigue.Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case it seems to me that the symptoms are due to viral infection that has spread from upper respiratory track to ear through eustachian tube , which occur sometimes due to low immunity or untreated upper respiratory track infection. For now do warm saline gargles , apply dry warm compresses to external ear and drink hot green tea twice. As you trying Zpak and that is not affection you. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test , examination of ear with otoscope and CTscan to rule out bacterial infection and ear wax buildup. Doctor may prescribe anti viral like acyclovir or anti bacterial along with decongestant and expectorant .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
