Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Hand Bite Swelling And Itching, Neck Stiffness And Shoulder Pain?
yesterday I got a small bit on my hand. It swelled up and it itched terribly, after I got home about 3 hours later my neck started getting stiff. This morning it is much worse, my head feels heavy, my neck if stiff, if I inhaled both sides of my neck hurt. I have a sharp constant pain between my shoulders. I got out of the car to walk into work and felt sort of rummy. I don't know if it is related to the bit on my hand. What should I do. I took Tylenol and it is not helping.
Thanks for your question on HCM. In my opinion, this can be due to allergic reaction. And possibility of allergy due to bite on hand is more. Insects when bite, discharge fluid in the body and this can be allergic and produce symptoms locally as well as systemically (neck). So I advice you to consult dermatologist and start anti allergic and antihistamine drugs. Also start anti inflammatory drugs to reduce swelling. You may need injectable steroids to suppress allergic inflammation.
