What Causes Genital Herpes?
I just found out i have genital herpes and I have a hard time figuring out why when i am clean and all the partners I have been with are clean. Is it possible that it cold be a false positive? I have had cold sores when I was younger for type 1 of herpes. Could that have been why the test was positive?

External cleanliness of the body or genitals can not rule out STD/HIV in an individual. Only with the blood test and tests on urine and discharge can reveal or rule out STDs/HIV. Genital herpes is different from that of a cold sore. Genital Herpes is caused by HSV 1 and cold sores are caused by HSV 2. Protected exposures are always safe.
