What Causes Fluttering Along With Skipping Of Heart Beat?

I am 41 years old and i have strange flopping feeling in my chest as well as skipped heart beats. This has been going on for about two months. I feel this constantly during the day and night. Sometimes I get lightheaded and experience ringing in one ear.

I can understand your concern. Sudden onset fluttering and skipping the beat can occur due to some cardiac cause so this should be ruled out with proper evaluation. ECG can help to rule out any cardiac reason for these symptoms. Visit a physician for evaluation.

If physician evaluation doesn't reveal any condition then other possible cause for these symptoms is most probably anxiety. Anxiety can cause fluttering heart, palpitations, skipping the beat. Medicines like Propranolol, Atenolol can help to improve the symptoms and can relieve anxiety. Visit a psychiatrist for prescription of these medicines.
