What Causes Fluid Discharging Heart Shaped Area On Upper Leg?

I have a heart shaped area on my upper left leg, about six inches above the knee where there is a ring of the epidermis has been completely eaten away, the skin in the center of the ring is lower than the other and, feels more like leather than skin. It is not oozing yellowish fluid however, a clear fluid did come out of the wound like what comes from a blisters. Any thoughts on this.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history of the lesion on the leg. My treatment advice is –

1. Don't squeeze the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an NSAID (Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like ibuprofen for pain and swelling.

If the problem persists then consult a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
