What Causes Fluctuating TSH Levels Despite Having Synthroid?
I ve been taking synthroid for 23 years after having a thyroidectomy ( had thyroid cancer). My dr recently had blood work done on me. Within the last year and a half my t4 level has increased from 9.0 - 12.0 and my tsh increased from .9 to 2.0. Also my b12 has dropped from 247 to 193. I m tired all the time. Is it normal for levels to fluctuate ? Are b12 injections the answer for the b12 deficiency? Thank you
Hello and welcome! I read carefully your concern. There are unknown factors that cause fluctuations in TSH levels. During different periods the needs for synthroid (levothyroxine) can change. That is why is recommended to check the TSH level every 6 months and adjust the dose according to the result.
Yes, B12 deficiency can be treated with B12 injections.
