What Causes Flashes Of Light In My Peripheral Vision And Floaters?
I'm experiencing flashes of light in my periferal vision of my right eye, along with an increase of floaters. The light flashes are new and started this afternoon whenever I turned my head to the right. They are more frequent now and occur when I look up, down or to either side. Is this something I need to have checked out right away or can it wait till Monday? YYYY@YYYY
I reviewed your history. It seems from the history that you are having flashes of light with floaters.
My response to your question is as follows.
The sudden onset of these symptoms indicate problems involving the posterior segment of the eye in the form of posterior vitreous detachment, retinal tear, retinitis.... This requires evaluation by ophthalmologist by simple tests like indirect ophthalmoscopy to find out the underlying cause and treatment accordingly. If there are retinal problems like retinal tear then prophylactic laser treatment is required to prevent the risk of development of retinal detachment. Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and treatment accordingly.
Hope this information is helpful to you. Do write back to me for any further questions and I will be happy to answer and assist you.
