What Causes Fistula In Neck And Throat With Leakage?

I am looking for information on a fistula or fissure. I developed a fissure in my neck and throat 2 1/2 weeks ago and had leakage of liquids from it. My doctor did sew it up but I am still having some leakage thru the stitches. The fissure is tiny really not big enough to pack.

Hello,

You are having a thyroglossal fistula probably. If u had a swelling in the neck and it moves with swallowing then it's thyroglossal fistula. You consult an ENT surgeon. You need to do an ultrasound neck to see the nature of the swelling. FNAC of swelling should also be done. You should check your thyroid profile. You should be operated and the whole fistulous tract needs to be removed. Otherwise, there will be continuous discharge from fistula site.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
