What Causes Feeling Of Something Struck In Throat After Smoking Meth?

Me and my frind have been smoking meth and he has been experiencing something stuck in his throat. It started off to be something like tonsillitis then he started to get out hard chunks of blackish brown pebbly substances( which only happened once). Then he was trying to cough up the thing stuck in his throat and he spit out a little bit of blood. Do you know what could be wrong with him?

Addiction Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Most probably he has developed sores in the mucosal lining of his throat. Sores at different sites of the body are quite common in meth users. Usually these occur because of the excretion of metabolites of meth from skin and mucosa, as well as poor nutrition and vitamin deficiencies that are common in meth users. In my opinion, he should avoid using meth and take vitamin supplements for faster healing. Steam inhalation can hasten the healing process.

Best wishes.
