What Causes False Positive Pregnancy Test Results?
I had protected sex with my girlfriend 2days before her periods, and she did go for those periods, after that she missed her last two last cycles and recently bought a pregnancy test and the pregnancy test tested positive but we haven t seen any pregnancy symtom.So I have been wondering if the pregnancy test gave false results due to hormonial imbalance cause she did abortion 5 months ago

There are two possibilities. Sex 2 days prior to menses date is unlikely to cause pregnancy (safe zone...if she had normal menstrual cycle) your girlfriend had bleeding after that.
1. It can be implantation bleeding followed by absent periods die to conception if she had history of irregular periods & ovulation. Pregnancy test would be positive, in such case.
2. But in case it was irregular periods due to hormonal disturbance & conception too. In such a case pregnancy test would be false positive, due to contaminated urine sample OR container. Such an artefact can be detected by repeat pregnancy test with due precautions. Pelvis can also confirm the finding.
