What Causes Faint Positive Pregnancy Tests After Taking Next Choice?

I have a question pertaining to HCG levels after d&c. I had the procedure done around June 23rd because of complications; bled for around 3 weeks after. We decided to hold off on having our next child until my body had time to heal from the process. We had a contraception accident so I took Next Choice one dose around June 10th. I have not (at least to my knowledge) had menstruation since I was first pregnant (May 7th was LMP). I ve taken 2 pregnancy tests that come faintly positive but I have None of my usual pregnancy symptoms, and im now mildly cramping, and spotting old blood. I am making a Gyn appointment but wondering if you have any input. How will they test pregnancy if I do still have lingering human chorionic gonadotropin in my blood?

well they would do a repeat urine pregnancy test and ask for a transvaginal ultrasound to check for any products of conception / fresh pregnancy. ideally hcg levels drop down completely after 2 weeks post d/c if evacuation is complete or theres abortion. they can also order a serum beta hcg blood sample for evaluating levels.regards
