Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have very severe overall sweating and it has already started for the season. I love spending time outside in the summer but heat/ humidity is totally debilitating. I take atenolol and fluoxetine. Can either cause excessive sweating? Any suggestions please. I really am desperate to solve this!!!!!!! Thanks for your input..
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
There are few causes for excessive sweating. It can be due to thyroid disturbance, it can be due to decreased blood sugar levels, it can be due to anxiety disorder also. Now in your case, you have mentioned that you are taking atenolol and fluoxetine. Fluoxetine is usually given for either depression or anxiety. So, most likely you are having the anxiety disorder with some panic attacks which causes excessive sweating to you.
All the best.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Prashant Gohil
