What Causes Excessive Bleeding After Stent Placement For Urethral Obstruction?

Hello my mother recently had urethral obstruction that caused her to have stents placed. She is now having severe loss of blood. She currently also have a left and right nephrostomy tubes and a catheter. She has also had several CT scans,Ultrasounds, and contrast dye to find out where the bleeding is coming from and all test have failed to disclose that.My question is there a possible solution on where the bleeding could be coming from and is it necessary to have all those tubes at one time?

Hello and welcome.

Why don't you discuss the possibility of a ureteroscopy with your doctor. I am not sure if I have understood the source of bleeding well enough, but the investigation will help explore the bladder, urethra, etc; this should help with more clear visualisation of the renal tract.

Please do discuss the same with your mothers doctor, this will be helpful if the blood is noticed in the urine. I hope I have been helpful here. I would also like to add, severe loss of blood is a serious threat and should not be taken lightly. All the tubes and life supporting and stabilising that is present is mandatory and helpful.

Best wishes.
