Last week my finger got stuck in a door and bleed for about 6 hours. Today I had a guided needle breast biopsy and had excessive bleeding after about 20, and a lot of pressure I stopped. This is new to me, I have not bleed excessively prior to last week. Should I be concerned? ( I am not on any blood thinner s or on aspirin )
Since you are not on aspirin or any blood thinning agent, you should be concerned seriously about your tendency for prolonged bleeding. You have to undergo thorough investigations on your blood to identify the cause of such prolonged bleeding - which may be from anaemia, low Fibrinogen or Platelet levels up to cancer of the blood.
Initially, get your complete haemogramme with bleeding time and clotting time done. Then you may have to undergo study of the clotting factors. The best option for you is to report this to a hematologist and get thorough work up done on your blood. Based on this any more investigations like bone marrow study may be required and then the management can be planned.
I hope this gives to preliminary guidance. Please do not ignore and report to Hematologist ASAP.
