What Causes Elevated Heart Beats While On Losartan, Digoxin, Furosemide And Atenolol?

I am 75 yr old female with diabetes. I had episodes of rapid heart beat then my heart slowed down so i have a pacemaker. I have been prescribe. Losartan, digoxin, furosemide, atenolol. My daughter told me she had been put on lasarton and suffered severe medical problems and is on dyalasis now so I am asking if I should be cautious.

Hi,

I understand your concern and would explain that Losartan can worsen kidney function in persons suffering from a chronic renal disease.

For this reason, I would recommend performing renal function tests while taking this drug.

Another option would be to switch from losartan to Lercanidipine, which is much better tolerated in kidney patients.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.
