What Causes Ear Pain Post Dental Filling?

Good day doctor. I was having trouble on my right ear. I had a toothache last month and I go to to dentist and ask for tooth extraction but she said that it can treat for dental filling. So she did dental filling but now I feel like I had a pain in my ear and my jaw. I don t know what to do. Is this normal? It s the same way I feel when I have my toothache. Please I need an answer. Thank you

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of ear pain post dental filling which is not a very uncommon occurrence. It seems to be due to persistence of infection and exposed nerve roots which is causing these symptoms. It could be due to buildup of pressure below tooth root tips.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit oral physician once and get complete examination done. You should get X-ray of that tooth done and get filling removed under local anesthesia and start treatment accordingly. You should maintain complete hygiene of oral cavity and avoid intake of sticky substances. You should get redone procedure and get capping done to provide strength to tooth.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
