Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to Health Care Magic.
I understand your concern. I am Dr Alok Sinha, MD Psychiatry from India. I will try to help you with best of my effort.
Smoking weed (Marijuana) is known to produce restlessness, dizziness, blurred vision, increased heart rate and various mental symptoms like abnormal perceptual experiences, severe anxiety and panic attacks. Its effect may last for hours to days. Apparently that night you suffered panic attack because of immediate effects of smoking weed.
Recent researches have proved that long term regular use of weed may cause permanent structural damage to brain and generation of psychiatric symptoms mainly psychosis. This is not applicable in your case as you admit that you smoked weed once about 06 years ago.
What you are suffering at present is apparently some anxiety disorder. A person with anxiety disorder has following common symptoms:-
1. Excessive worries about something going to be wrong.
2. Always feeling on the edge and restless.
3. Lack of mental peace, inability to relax and enjoy things.
4. Lack of confidence fear of doing something wrong
5. Various bodily symptoms like increased heart rate, palpitation, pounding heart, chest discomfort, choking sensation, dryness of mouth and throat, breathlessness, difficulty in taking breath, dizziness, blurring of vision, heaviness of head, headache, sweating, churning sensation in abdomen, hot and/or cold waves, tingling and numbness in limbs, frequency of motion and micturation etc.
6. Reduced energy, extreme weakness, poor appetite, disturbed sleep and reduced sexual desire.

As you have revealed many of the above mentioned symptoms occurring since last many years causing you to suffer a lot, you certainly require professional help of a psychiatrist. i advise you to consult a psychiatrist in your locality who may advise you certain psychotropic medicines for cure. With medicines you may have dramatic relief and you may go back to enjoying life.
Hope this answers your query. I wish you all the best.
