What Causes Dizziness, Migraine On Left Side And Pain Behind Eyes?
Hello Dr. I am a 65 yr old female who is having a Ct scan Monday I have been experiencing dizziness and a pretty constant migraine on the left side of my head and behind left eye for 4 mos. Now. They want to inject dye prior to scan ...what will this show and is it an angiogram? Thank you
Hello dear, Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.If you would have presented to me as an outpatient,I would have made the following clinical explanation- Migraine is a clinical diagnosis. If you are having episodic throbbing unilateral headache(on left side) along with retro-orbital pain and dizziness,it can well be migraine. Some of the other typical symptoms are- 1)nausea 2)Photophobia and phonophobia(headache worsens on exposure to bright light and sound) 3)Visual aura If you have checked the typical symptoms and they are present in you,it indeed is migraine.
However, sometimes Contrast enhanced computerised tomographic(CT) scan is done to rule out other secondary structural causes of brain which can present with migraine like headache.Typical examples are Brain tumor, infection and vascular malformation. Dye they are injecting is probably contrast, and they are likely doing a Contrast CT scan.I hope it helps.
