Hi, I am a 69 year old male. Woke up this morning dizzy and waited to get out of bed and the feeling went away. Had usual breakfast of water, juice, coffe, yogurt, banana. Diffuse feeling came back while working in the yard. I m taking hydroxychloroquine 200mg dail, had a flu shot and pneumonia shot two days ago. Came in house and took blood pressure, was 175/70 and now is 146/67, also dissolved aspirin under my tongue. Any idea what s going on?

Hi

Complaint:transient early morning giddiness in known hypertensive.

Possibility:

If you have had any cold or nasal allergy recently in the last month then we need to think of benign vertigo as the cause .-else

1.reduced blood pressure early in the morning due to the effect of antihypertensive medications(like calcium channel blockers for example amlodepine)-postural hypotension.
2.giddiness can also be caused due to hydroxy chloroquine due to direct toxicity on the vestibulocochlear nerve.
3.If your lipid profile labs &glycaemic profile are due get them dOne.also get your urine for micralbumin done to added any reversible damage to kidneys.
3.other Causes like anaemia(low hemoglobin),cervical spondylosis(age related degeneration of neck bones),urinary tract infections, poor vision also need to be considered

Your no needs to be kept under control (target no 140/90 Mm of )round the clock.suggest you get a digitally. Home bp monitor and check your blood pressure before and 12 hours after taking no medication and consult your routinephtsician for advise modification of bp medications.

Hope this helps
