What Causes Discomfort In Right Side While Having Gallstones?

Hello,Monday I went to the ER and they diagnosed me with Gallstones.
I am on antibiotics and pain reliever but I still feel a discomfort in the right side that does not go away..
I have an appointment with a surgeon on Monday to see the best way to go but most likely they will advise to remove the gallstones.
Is this discomfort that I am experiencing normal after the attack?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You have acute cholecystitis presentation as per history because of gall stones and hence you are still having abdominal discomfort. Whenever gall stones are symptomatic it needs to be removed surgically called cholecystectomy.

Meanwhile you will be prescribed udiliv syrup or tablet for that. Avoid alcohol if you have the habit. Take more fruits and avoid heavy fatty meal. Complete the course of prescribed antibiotic.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
