What Causes Discomfort In Ear?

I recently have hearing loss with a "fullness" feeling (temporary) everytime the area around one ear gets touched slightly. It feels like when you are flying in an airplane. It lasts several hours after the ear is touched and then will "pop" and I will just have a slight fullness feeling with ringing. I am on week 4 of this. No hx of ear infections or fluid in ear, no cold or allergies, etc. There is no build up of wax when I had someone look inside the canal. I'm an RN and have ruled out the common causes. What are some reason for this?
