So I just gave birth 6 weeks & a few days ago I had a little tear & I got the okay to have sex, the first time it was uncomfortable but bearable the next night we tried & I couldn t. It feels like my vaginal opening is stretching towards my perinium. Is this normal? & I also noticed a little pointy thing the color of my vagina hanging out towards the back of my vagina. What is it? I ve never noticed it before but then again I never really looked. I m very nervous something is wrong. My vagina is still very achy. Is all of this normal?
Vaginal tear you had is making your intercourse painful. Was the tear sutured and repaired or was left for the secondary healing decides the way of healing of the wound. The fact that your torn vaginal tissue is peeping out suggests that it was not sutured and was left to the secondary healing. Whichever way it has healed, it seems it has not healed healthily.
You seems to have inflammation in the wound. This seems to be mostly due to infection - may be due to the wound contamination or secondary to the blood collection in the wound. In that case, the chances of pus collection in the wound are quite high.
You may require incision and drainage of the pus if there is abscess. For only infected wound, antibiotics would be required. In addition, the wound may require opening, cleaning and resuturing depending upon the health of the wound. Please report to your Obstetrician & Gynaecologist for timely intervention. Delay may cause deep seated irreversible fibrotic changes which may later on require the larger surgical intervention. This will lead to more uncomfortable marital life.
Dear, usually these wounds get infected by faecal contamination. You have to take all the hygienic precautions in cleaning the perineum. You should clean the perineum after toilet by before backward strokes and never from back to front. This avoids the contamination of vagina.
I feel I have given you proper guidelines for further steps.
