Welcome to healthcaremagic,
Diarrhea and vomiting seen in your child may be due to gastroenteritis (stomach and intestine infection). It is a common health problem in children below 5 years of age. The infection is usually viral or bacterial. These organisms enter the body through infected water or food or contaminated hands.
Many children get dehydrated due to loss of body fluid, so our main treatment is to correct any dehydration. You need to follow the given instructions:
1. Continue feeding your child
2. Continue breast feeding if you are currently breastfeeding your child
3. Give ORS (Oral rehydration solution) to your child.
Take 1 litre of clean drinking water and mix 1 packet of ORS in it and mix it. Give it at regular intervals to the baby so that baby will get more fluid and remain hydrated. (You need to give around 100ml of ORS solution after every loose stool)
4. Give more fluids like water and fresh fruit juices
5. You need to give 20 mg Zinc tablets for 10 days
That should improve the health of your child and he should be normal with a couple of days. Take your baby to pediatrician if the baby gets severely dehydrated or the condition is not improving.
Hope that answers your question
Regards, Dr.Imaad
