What Causes Diarrhea After Taking Azithromycin?
i just got diagnosed last thursday w bronchitis..they prescribed me arithomycin and a steriod, 5 day supply of both This morning i had stopped and got a breakfast burrito...well 2 hrs later i got really bad diarrhea....i went to lunch 10 mins after i ate i was in the bathroom again w diarrhea again diarrhea was really watery...not only that i got really clammy and sweated really bad and was shaking all over....i thought i was going to puke or if i were to stand up i was liable of passing out...when i did finally get up i did not pass out however, i felt really weak, one arm is darker then the other, my face turned really pale...my head feels a little weird still as when i got the cold sweats also...im just worried what should i do???

thank you for asking you concern. yes you are right diarrhea is the most common side effect of taking azithromycin. almost 50% of patient taking azithro suffers this symptom but the diarrhea caused by azithro is self limiting. you do not need to worry about it. but you need to maintain your hydration properly by taking ORS and fluids as per your need. despite this complication azithro is a good antibiotic thats why we prescribe it.
if the diarrhea is not stopping after completion of your course or you see blood in stool them you must consult your physician to rule out infection.
