What Causes Delay In Periods Despite Having Negative UPT?

hi i am 28 yrs old and my periods are late by 2 weeks,I contacted gynecologist and she confirmed about no pregnancy , no symptoms of pregnancy but worried.How Dr checks pregnancy ? is this the same way we do with pregnancy test? How much they are confirmed ?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Pregnancy tests can be urine or blood tests.Your doctor can do either.

If you did the urine pregnancy test 11 to 14 days after possible conception then it is likely accurate.

If it was done before this time then it should be repeated.

Other causes of delayed period are: (1) emotional stress or illness
(2)abnormal levels of thyroid hormone
(3)physical illness
(4)high prolactin hormone
(5)inadequate diet
(6)polycystic ovarian syndrome

Blood tests for thyroid hormone levels, prolactin and to check for polycystic ovarian syndrome can be done if the period does not come.
