Hello,

There are many other reasons apart from pregnancy that can cause delayed, irregular or absent periods. Ectopic pregnancy is still pregnancy and hormones produced are same as regular pregnancy that mix in blood. So negative pregnancy test means you do not have ectopic pregnancy, too. So please stop worrying about pregnancy and abortion.

The pain in lower abdomen and delayed menstruation can also be due to polycystic ovarian disease, also known as PCOD. Normally, our brain produces signals that reach ovaries and order them to produce female sex hormones. These ovaries make eggs. If the egg is fertilized, pregnancy occurs and if not, the egg is sloughed off during menstruation. Now in PCOD, there is some imbalance between the signals from brain and the hormones produced. So eggs do not produce regularly and menstruation irregularities ensue.

Deviry (10 mg) helps in inducing menstruation. If you do not get periods after completing the course of medicine, you can visit the gynecologist again. She might take blood test to determine the female sex hormone levels in your blood and may also take an ultrasonography (USG) to diagnose the presence of cysts or other structural abnormalities. You might have to take hormonal medicines after diagnosis for some months till the menstruation becomes regular.

In any case, PCOD and other hormonal imbalances are very common among women and they can be treated in most cases with medicines. I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthCareMagic. Take care.
