What Causes Delay In Breakthrough Bleeding After Taking Contraceptives?

I with my wife had unprotected sex after 12 hours of sex she have taken ecp and on next day again she take ecp and on 3rd again she take ecp ( 3rd time) but bleeding haven t occur yet.... as there any chances of pregnancy and it not why bleeding haven t occures yet ...today is 5th day after had unprotected intercourse.. no symptoms of bleeding yet? Plz answer we are so worried

Hi,

Menstruation after taking emergency contraception can be delayed due to the effects of the hormone.

That being said, if she hasn't got period as expected, please be advised to do a home pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy, as there is a 1% chance of failure for emergency contraceptives.
