What Causes Dark Vaginal Lips With Swelling ?

I ve noticed earlier today that my inner vagina lips are a purple-ish black color at the tips and are swollen.they used to be pink and small. It looks very unattractive and might I say dirty when I had just gotten out of the shower. Is this normal and why does this happen

Hello,

Dark vaginal lips are commonly due to hormonal changes, ageing, rough sex or use of hair removers, vaginal yeast infection, etc. Swelling of the vaginal lips may be indicative of Bartholin's cyst, injury due to rough sex etc.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by a gynecologist to rule out Bartholin's cyst or any other pathology causing you discomfort. You may have to take a course of anti-fungals orally. If sexually active, get STD tests done to stay on the safer side.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
